Martin Luther King, Jr. 01/15/1929

January 15, 1929 We celebrate you today and are thankful for you and your sacrifices everyday.

Some of us lean less toward the philosophy of peaceful protests as more of us are dying daily...but the bulk of us believe in the love and wisdom of unity which I believe was your most powerful message.

You had a dream, and although it may have become, to some, today, a nightmare and rightfully so (#TrayvonMartin #SandraBland #SoManyManyMore), we STILL believe in the vision.

Yours, mine, and ours -- collectively...you, Dr. King, a graduate of my alma mater, Boston University, spoke of this vision that has been burning brighter in those of our people, (black-white-and otherwise) who were blessed enough to hear your voice with their very own heads and hearts, who heard your speech up close and so very personal, and then those whose people, the griot's of the generations past, pushed forward the knowledge of your words, your seeds...to the next generation, we the people, your people: are blackening that beautiful field of view...

Tunnel-visioning your message, not just TODAY the day of your birth, but also the day some power that be (...had been?) decided to celebrate governmentally, respectfully, on January 17 and every day before and after, as long as this planet exists.

With so much love and respect, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we thank you for your love and your sacrifice.

Honorably and Sincerely,
Ayesha Moore
Juris Doctor
